The California Native Plant Society Orange County Chapter (OCCNPS) is hosting a two-day garden tour featuring 22 gardens that are at least 50 percent California native plants.
This is your chance to view public and private gardens that feature California native plants in landscapes in North and South Orange County. When you take the tour, you can see firsthand how native plants can be designed as an elegant foundation of a landscape while also supporting more birds and butterflies than any other type of plant.
The California in My Garden tour is free of charge, and will showcase South Orange County gardens on Saturday, May 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Saturday tour features private home landscapes and also public gardens including an HOA landscape in Irvine that features native plants.
The South County gardens hug the coastline, with a few gardens located slightly inland, providing examples of various microclimates and growing conditions for native plants.
On Sunday, May 5, you can visit nine North Orange County private native gardens designed with wildflowers, flowering shrubs, and trees. Native plants use less water than almost all non-native plants and remind us of why we love California.
Registration for the California in My Garden tour is open now. Go to this link to register today. I hope to see you there.
