The California Native Plant Society Orange County chapter (OCCNPS) has a multi-event evening planned on Wednesday, November 9 at the Norman Murray Community Center in Mission Viejo. Everyone is invited to join us.
6:30 p.m. Doors Open
6:45 p.m. A Sage in Every Garden Giveaway Begins
At 6:45, OCCNPS will begin giving away 96 four-inch California white sage (Salvia apiana) plants (one per resident while supplies last).
7:15 p.m. White Sage Presentation by Bob Allen
At 7:15 p.m., Bob Allen, co-author of Wildflowers of Orange County and the Santa Ana Mountains, will give a 10-minute presentation about white sage–where it grows and the pollinators and wildlife it supports.
7:30 p.m. Saging the World Movie
At 7:30 p.m., OCCNPS will screen the award-winning documentary Saging the World. The 20-minute film spotlights the ecological and cultural issues intertwined with white sage, centering on the voices of Native advocates who have long cherished and protected the plant.
7:55 p.m. Q and A with Heidi Lucero
Heidi Lucero, of the Juaneno Band of Mission Indians, Acjachemen Nation, will lead a discussion after the movie screens.

Join OCCNPS at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 9 at the Norman Murray Community Center and pick up a free white sage for your garden, learn about the wonders of this plant, and meet others who share your love of California native plants.
